International Clinical Trials Day (ICTD) is a global meeting point for patients, researchers, healthcare professionals, authorities and policy makers to discuss topics connected to multinational clinical trials. In 2024, the celebration took place in Thessaloniki, with the option to join on-site or online.

Main theme: Data-driven clinical research

With the data revolution increasingly shaping every stage of clinical research, ICTD 2024 focused on the impacts, benefits and challenges linked to the growth of data and technologies. Stakeholders shared practical experience with topics such as new technical tools, eHealth, data science, data protection legislation and academia–industry collaboration.

ICTD also commemorates the start of James Lind’s landmark clinical study (20 May 1747), a historical milestone often referenced as a foundation of modern clinical research.
