CREATIC LabtoP Talks: Engineering Human Retina in vitro for Disease Modelling and Advanced Therapies
Talk by Tomáš Bárta, CoE CREATIC | Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University. Part of the series From Lab to Patient – CREATIC LabtoP Talks.
At the CREATIC Centre of Excellence, our core mission is to accelerate the journey of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) from initial bench research to the bedsides of patients facing rare diseases and unmet medical needs. Achieving this requires robust international collaboration and continuous knowledge sharing among clinical, regulatory, and scientific professionals. To foster this exchange, we are proud to host the CREATIC LabtoP Talks, a webinar series tailored for the expert public.
The LabtoP Talks are designed to address the full lifecycle of advanced therapies. Whether you are a researcher, developer, healthcare professional, regulatory expert, policymaker, or student, every participant will find topics directly relevant to their expertise or professional focus.
Reflections on the Spring 2026 Series: Regulatory Frameworks and Patient Pathways
The spring series of the LabtoP Talks, organised by the University of Copenhagen, successfully tackled several of the most pressing legal, ethical, and translational hurdles in the ATMP landscape. The sessions focused on intellectual property, hospital exemption, and patient and professional experiences with experimental ATMP treatment.
Together, these opening sessions mapped the delicate intersection of policy, law, and human clinical reality, demonstrating that bringing cell and gene therapies to patients requires not only navigating complex IP and regional regulatory frameworks but also understanding the perspectives of those undergoing treatments.
Looking Ahead: The Autumn 2026 Series
This autumn, the CREATIC LabtoP Talks return with a fresh agenda dedicated to technological innovations and the methodological specifics of advanced therapies. This upcoming series will bring together top-tier knowledge from both our centre's specialists and our international network, including our project partner, the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI).
The autumn programme will feature the following key topics:
Join the Discussion
Bringing together insights that span from molecular development to clinical trials and policymaking, this series continues to serve as a vital platform for everyone involved in advanced therapies.
