When Communication Opens the Way to Treatment: CREATIC at Researchers´ Night 2026 (#NocVědy2026)

September 2026 Jana Čaloudová

What does the journey of a patient with a rare disease look like, from the first symptoms and diagnosis to treatment itself? Who is involved along the way, and why is clear and accurate communication so important at every stage?

Join us at this year’s Researchers´ Night and explore the world of modern medicine, clinical research and new treatment options with the Centre of Excellence CREATIC at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University.

🔎 Searching for Hope: When Communication Opens the Way to Treatment

What happens when medicine, cutting-edge research and patient care come together? At our stand, you will discover what we do at the Centre of Excellence CREATIC LF MU, learn about the role of the Czech National Infrastructure for Clinical Research CZECRIN, and explore what it takes to safely translate new scientific knowledge into new treatment options for patients.

Every new treatment option is made possible by the collaboration of many people. When patients’ experiences, physicians’ expertise, researchers’ work and everyday patient care come together, new knowledge and innovations can make a real difference to individual patients. 🤝

You will also discover how cells from our own bodies can help, for example, with wound healing, why cell and gene therapies are an important part of modern medicine, and what needs to happen before a new therapeutic approach can reach a patient.

🧬 What can you experience at the CREATIC LF MU stand?

  • Searching for Hope – try an interactive team maze in which you will follow the journey of a patient with a rare disease. You will navigate from the first symptoms through diagnosis to possible treatment options, make decisions, work with information and avoid dead ends along the way. You will discover just how important communication, reliable information and collaboration can be throughout this journey.
  • When Eyes Cannot See, Touch Can Guide You – can you recognise essential laboratory equipment using only your sense of touch? Try a playful hands-on activity that will introduce you to the scientific laboratory from a completely different perspective.
  • ASGENT exhibition – learn more about rare diseases and their current and future treatment options. You will also discover how the Gene Therapy Association ASGENT raises public awareness of rare diseases and supports patients in their efforts to improve access to innovative treatments. Learn more about ASGENT
  • Lecture: From Cells to Patients: Communication on the Path to Modern Treatment – discover how the cells in our bodies communicate through signals that help regulate immune responses, and how disruption of these signals can contribute to disease. You will also explore why clear and understandable communication between patients, their families, physicians, researchers and other specialists is essential. Find out how collaboration helps patients navigate options such as cell and gene therapies and why new treatment approaches emerge through cooperation across many different fields.
