CREATIC brought the Gene Age exhibition to the campus of the Faculty of Medicine. It introduces the topic of rare diseases and the principles of gene and cell therapies in a playful way.
How to bring the topic of rare diseases and modern therapeutics to the wider public? Media interviews, discussions and exhibitions that popularise the topic and can be placed in areas with a high concentration of people are one way to do this.
The Association for Gene Therapy (ASGENT) has created just such an exhibition and thanks to CREATIC, we can introduce its travelling indoor version to students, staff and visitors to the MU Faculty of Medicine campus.
The goal of the Gene Age Exhibition is not just to educate, but to do so in a way that both entertains and enlightens. It introduces the basics of genetics, showing how rare genetic diseases are diagnosed and what treatment options are available. It explains the basic concepts of cell and gene therapy and tells the stories of patients with Angelman syndrome, ASGENT's primary focus, and cystic fibrosis. It is important that science and research results find their way to the public and CREATIC is pleased to have been able to support this initiative in this way.
