HOPE THROUGH SCIENCE

We help people with rare or hard-to-treat diseases.

Some patients don’t respond to regular treatments. That’s where personalised medicine – using cells and genes – can bring real hope.
We’re a team of researchers, doctors and partners from across Europe working together to bring new therapies to life.

How it works?

What are rare diseases?

Rare diseases are medical conditions that affect very few people – fewer than 1 in 2,000. There are about 8,000 rare diseases known today. Some are familiar, like cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, or butterfly skin disease. But many others remain almost invisible – known only to affected families and healthcare providers.

Why is care so difficult?

For many rare diseases, there is no cure. And even when treatment is possible, getting the right diagnosis and care can be a long and frustrating journey. Patients and their families face many obstacles – both in the healthcare system and in everyday life.

Not enough research

There’s still limited knowledge about most rare diseases. Without research, there’s no progress.

Few specialists

Many patients wait months or years to see a doctor who truly understands their condition.

Delayed diagnosis

Rare diseases often go undiagnosed for years – especially in children.

Limited access to care

Specialised treatment is not always available nearby – or even in the same country.

CREATIC is working to make innovative treatments accessible to rare disease patients.

How is CREATIC helping?

Centre of Excellence CREATIC is a European initiative led by Masaryk University. We work to develop new treatments for patients with rare or hard-to-treat diseases – especially those who have no standard options available. Together with research partners from Germany and Denmark, we are building a Centre of Excellence focused on cell and gene therapies.
